HPD presents to HDFC shareholders on Dec. 12th & Dec. 19th

We look forward to seeing HDFC shareholders at these events.  HPD says they are listening to shareholder input, but they keep making the same proposal and we haven’t seen any evidence of taking seriously HDFC shareholder concerns about the unworkability and unfairness of the proposals.  Let them hear from you!

Monday, December 12th: HPD presents in E. Harlem,  6:30 PM – 8:30 PM at Henry J. Carter Hospital 1752 Park Avenue (East 121st & 122nd Streets) 10029

Monday, December 19th: HPD presents in Lower East Side, 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM  Washington Irving Educational Campus, 40 Irving Place, New York, NY 10003
UPDATE: HDFC shareholders attended and again told HPD loud and clear that HPD’s proposal, and the process that went on for a year and excluded real HDFC shareholders, is not something we can support!

Activism is beginning to get results! HDFC Coalition Steering Committee members along with experienced HDFC attorneys working pro-bono on behalf of the Coalition met with City Council Staff members on November 21st.  We advised the City Council to not pass tax legislation that would enable HPD’s coercive proposal and onerous Regulatory Agreement, but to instead consult with HDFC shareholders to create real solutions that would help not hurt HDFCs. Your voices are being heard! But we all need to do even more: We need you and your neighbors to keep organizing and calling your elected officials. Please remember to have all your neighbors sign up on our mailing list down below on this page (the blue section) and click here to see what you can do NOW to make your voice heard!

We are looking to set up another general meeting for HDFC shareholders in the near future where we can report on our progress, and the break off into groups by City Council district so you can meet fellow shareholders in your area and focus your efforts on your local elected officials!  It will be informative, fun, and empowering to organize with people in your area!

BIG HPD Presentation at Cooper Union on Nov. 9th!

Finally, HPD comes to present to HDFC shareholders on the Lower East Side!  Come to Cooper Union’s storied Great Hall (where Abraham Lincoln spoke in 1860!) and let HPD know what you think about their plan!

UPDATE: HDFC shareholders loudly and strongly opposed HPD’s plans!  Following a slow start, fiery speeches by Council Member Rosie Mendez & former Council Member Margarita Lopez, & HDFC shareholders at Cooper Union w/ HPD at Manhattan Community Board 3!!! It heats up!!!! See the video from our Facebook page below:

Our May 16th meeting was well attended with approximately 40 shareholders present!  We discussed the recent proposal from the HDFC Task Force (which is separate from our group, the shareholder-led HDFC Coalition), networked with each other, and we are working on our position paper based on the insights and consensus reached.  Keep organizing!  More info coming soon!  Also- the HDFC Task Force (not the HDFC coalition) is hosting it’s 3rd meeting in Downtown Brooklyn on Tuesday May 24, 2016 at 6:30-8 PM

HDFC Coalition General Meeting Monday May 16 at 6:30pm

Please RSVP at this link if possible: Facebook event link

The HDFC Coalition is hosting a meeting for HDFC shareholders to be informed as to recent efforts by the City and other groups to very substantially change the regulations currently affecting HDFCs. We will also be organizing ourselves to meet the challenge of ensuring that any proposed legislation is truly optional, truly benefits HDFCs and does not destroy the current regulatory environment upon which many HDFCs depend for their survival. (We are not the HDFC Task Force, which is an effort that is not led by HDFC shareholders.)

We will discuss the issues and create clear positions that we will move forward in upcoming discussions with our political representatives and the HDFC community.

Join us! Together, we can, and we will!
